The Foundation started up in the
early 1980's. The first meeting was held in the living room of one the
original members.
The chapter was slow getting off the
ground, but eventually word got out and we began to grow. Membership in OHF
has grown steadily over the years. Through donations,
Camp Independence became a reality, along with teen retreats, Men's
retreats and Women's retreats. Over the years, the OHF annual meeting has
offered attendees education and valuable information on bleeding disorders.
Over the past 8-10 years the Foundation has grown and expanded. Not only do
we have our yearly camp and annual meeting,
but also the annual Golf Tournament, Fall
Festival, and Christmas party. These events and activities are entirely
run by OHF volunteers.
OHF has come a long way from a
handful of people sitting in a living room to what we are today. We have a
strong and committed Board of Directors
and an ever increasing membership. With this combination, the OHF will
continue to grow and give more to the community it serves.
As told by current OHF Secretary
Ms. Genny Goodley
